Feel free to contribute to this repository in the Documentation folder on Github. Markdown files can be added in Documentation/docs. Comments that use XML formatting (i.e., ///<summary>) from within the project will be added.

Generating Documentation

Documentation is mostly autogenerated as soon as you push to master.

The only thing that doesn't update is the API page. Luckily, if you're working on Unity you should already have most of the pre-requisites. First, make sure you have docfx installed. Then:

Windows

Run build.ps1 in Documentation/docs.

If you want to preview the docs, you can add build.ps1 --serve to run a local server.

MacOS/Linux

Run build.sh in Documentation/docs.

If you want to preview the docs, you can add build.sh --serve to run a local server.

This project was created partly for CMPM 171, with the requirement of a vertical slice due by March 15th.

We made the game under these course constraints:

  • A download size of < 100 mb
    • We had to make no special concessions with our design or format to meet this requirement.
  • Support of 2+ languages, one of which must be logographic or left to right.
    • We had friends who offered to translate to Japanese and/or Korean. We chose Japanese.
  • The game must be playable with limited vision (contrast and color sensitivity)
    • We went with a toon shading look to avoid any crucial details being lost with vision problems.
  • The game must be playable with one hand.
    • Our game does not require heavy action, and the WASD keys and the spacebar are reachable entirely with one hand.
  • The game must be playable without any sound cues.
    • Our game's sound uses background sounds only to enhance gameplay. Loss of sound means nothing to overall enjoyment of the experience.
  • The game should reach a natural resting point every two minutes of active play.
    • Our game is a puzzle game, there is no loop containing active play.

Throughout making these prototypes we learned how the core gameplay would be structured. We learned a lot about our control scheme and how players would interact with the scene.

Hi-Fi Prototypes

We were highly focused on blockouts through these hi-fi prototypes. We really wanted to know how players would parse puzzles and how they would navigate the space. We learned quite a bit about what mechanics would and wouldn't work for us and our vision for the game when testing these prototypes.
